Steps

  1. Mix the meat with half the onion, half the herbs, the spices and salt; roll into small balls.
  2. Soften the remaining onion and garlic in oil, add tomatoes and simmer 10 minutes.
  3. Add the meatballs, cover and cook gently for 15–20 minutes until cooked through.
  4. Crack the eggs into the sauce, cover until just set, scatter with herbs and eat straight from the pot with bread.
